New Server
Just a little bit of good news, I’ve been switched over from the lenny server on DreamHost to a new one, and the speed has noticeably picked up already. I’m so glad that it was as painless as it was, just a support ticket (rather angry, I must admit though) and a couple hours later I got an email from DreamHost saying they switched me! Hopefully the difference keeps getting better, and in combination with the caching plugin I have going, the load times should no longer be a problem. All effects should be a good 5-10 hours away, to take full effect.
Also with the speed back I have a theme I have to finish tomorrow, among other things and if at the end of the week I have some time, I’ll try to get out that free theme that will be two weeks late tomorrow.
By the way: I’m still looking for a good syntax highlighting plugin for WordPress that actually works with 2.1+ and doesn’t get destroyed by their WYSIWYG editor.

Enable gzipping (if you haven’t already) - that will significantly reduce page loading times.

I’ll definitely enable gzip if I need it now. Seems like things are better, and it might not be necessary.
