Freshly Minted, Updated and Timed

Posted on April 23rd in General, Site Development, WordPress — 3 Comments so far. Got something to say?

Another one of those oh so lovable multi-topic posts. This one is a triple dose of fun, on the topics of:

  • Freshly Minted
  • Rebooting Page Content
  • First Timed Post

Freshly Minted

Yesterday as I was changing themes, I lost what was about two hours of stat tracking on my old free counting system, because I forgot to implement the code from the old layout. I was kind of disappointed that I didn’t get to see the actual amount of visits I got yesterday after releasing my new realign, but I filled that void with more stats. Mint, to be specific. I splurged on the Inman app, spending a whopping $30.

I’m still a little new, and adding new peppers and testing stuff out, but thus far it’s been amazing. Totally worth the money. I can also see what the fuss is about. Not only do you get the amazing default pepper, but all the add ons are free! And you can even make your own! What a deal.

So the fresh look at Connor Wilson has been great so far, and I can’t wait till a month from now when it’s all broken in.

Rebooting Page Content

To go with my spiffy new realign, I’ve started to rewrite the page content, and I’ve started with the about page. As time goes on, the rest of the pages should be getting their own literary face lift and they will be better. Change is good. My goal in rewriting these pages is making them unique in comparison to every other website in the world. Or maybe just with my twist on the typical about page, or contact page.

First Timed Post

This post that you’re reading now is my experiment of WordPress’ built in timed release posting-ness method. I’ve never used it, so I’m not totally sure if it will work, or what button I press, but I’ll start will Publish, and if that doesn’t work, I’ll know just to save it.

So if all goes well, this will come out at 11:00 AM on April 23rd, 2007, as opposed to 8:45 the night before (the real now). When doing this you have to remember to talk as if the day is tomorrow, kind of like you’re writing for a news paper.

Here we go… *crosses fingers*

Yep, the timed post was a success. I’ll be doing this a lot now, so I can keep updates going at least once a day.

And for Mint, the user experience so far has been great. There’s no waiting or anything for the license and it install really quick. Definitely recommend it. (After two days)

Hey, came across your blog from Josh Buckley’s… I’m lovin’ the layout.

Anyways, I like the posting ahead feature too, one time I was really motivated, made 3 posts and set them all to auto post spanned out over the next 3 days…

    Hahaha
