PageRank Update: Happy to Stay the Same
I’m sure you’ve all been hearing the PageRank update has been going on, and it definitely has. I’ve seen a lot of sites increasing to good levels (5+) and a few more doing the “intralink to Pr4 in a month” thing.
This update I stayed at PR5 which I had received last January at the previous update. Im much happier now with my PR situation then 3 months ago, mainly for these reasons:
- My PR5 in January was a fluke. I had little backlinks and few visitors.
- Luck was also a huge contributing factor.
- This time around, I have over 1800 backlinks as found by various sites (my favourite being iwebtool).
The result is a more satisfying, better producing PR5. More backlinks is more traffic, and all that but not only with enough backlinks to actually get PR5 this time around I have a lot better numbers in general.
If you read this blog with any regularity you know I love the numbers gathered by my various stats apps, such as Mint, FeedBurner, etc… And the reason why this update is a much better one for me, is because I’ve gone from 10 visitors and 0 readers a day to 50 visitors~ and 43 readers (today) a day. Growth!
Next update I’d like to get some subpages up, but it’s not important right now.

hi Connor,
i’m one of those happy ones
that got from PR0 to PR4.
but i’m now in your january position: few backlinks (180), about 60 visitors and 20-24 readers and quite a few commenters.
(i’m havin an average of 0.9 comments per post right now including my answers to comments…)
so from now on i’ll adopt your strategy. and try to gain more quality backlinks and try to… get a more reader activity on the blog
.
so if you’re having some advice here… i’d be happy to read some guidelines

Razor, it was pure luck
Now, my blog would’ve gone to PR5 now but maybe it was because this domain was previously PR5 or higher when it was previously registered (but I don’t know if it was).
And webee, the key to backlinks in a blog is writing posts that people link to (and asking for links, but you’re on this already) and as your Technorati rank goes up, so will your PR. Check the PR of all the top blogs on Technorati, I bet a PR4 would be rare

I didn’t pay that much attention to technorati actually, but someone all the linkjuice from themes I released convinced Google to rank me up. yay!

I’ve released one free WP theme (back in February) and the Technorati boost is a little, but noticeable. If it was higher quality, the link love would be higher
