Switching to CS3

Posted on May 6th in Personal — 5 Comments so far. Got something to say?

Today I’ve been switching some of my CS2 apps like Photoshop, Dreamweaver (8) and Illustrator over to CS3. I’ve been doing this… totally legally. No one would pirate Adobe software right? Yeah…

Photoshop CS3 has been great so far, everything installed smoothly (which is odd for not not using a torrent) and went fine. All my PSDs were perfectly compatible and all is well. I’m getting used to the new layout and different tool bar, and I’ll poke around the new features later.

Dreamweaver CS3 shut me down at the install screen for having less than 512 MB of RAM. I guess I’ll just have to wait to get that on my iMac when I do finally get it. I was a little hesitant to get Dreamweaver upgraded because I don’t use any of its… functionality. I don’t use the auto tags, etc… I just like it for it’s alright previewing and great syntax highlighting. With all the new AJAX and JS animation capabilities in CS3, I just wouldn’t use it. I can do all that on my own ;)

For Illustrator CS3, I’ve yet to get it all the way… downloaded. This is the one I’m most looking forward to, and maybe I’ll start doing some print for myself ;) Although Photoshop CS3 didn’t need 512MB of RAM, I think Illustrator might, so I’m afraid of that happening once again.

After checking the Adobe website, Photoshop CS3 Extended (version I have) needs 512MB of RAM to install, but never stopped me. Hopefully when I do get Illustrator the same thing happens and it just lets me install.

The thing I’m liking about Photoshop CS3 over CS2 the most so far is definitely the weight. CS3 opens a lot faster, and is more responsive. Even on 256 RAM, I’m still using it with a ton of stuff open and it’s great.

By the end of next week I’d like to have everything all installed, but if Illustrator decides to not install, I guess I’ll be waiting for my iMac. Shouldn’t be too long, though.

Ha, Henry I have the Corperate Master collection, just under 8 gigabytes of cs3-ness.

Took 31 hours to download (not not using a torrent ¬_¬)
