More CakePHP Stuff
In using the CakePHP framework for only a couple of days now, I’m starting to see what I can use it for, and how it’s helping me with other things.
For example, I now understand how Ruby on Rails works. Not really having understood it before, using CakePHP, which is apparently a blatant rip off of RoR, I get it.
But I’ve found out what I want to use it for, and what I don’t want to use it for. I was hinting at doing IntroTotheWeb with it, to provide some basic HTML tutorials (like that link? ;)). Now I’ve decided that ITTW will stay on WordPress as I had originally planned, and the impending release of AleoMedia, which will provide blog design solutions (again ;)), will be done in Cake.
Also, just to clear up the pronunciation on that, as I’ve been asked a bunch of times: uh - lay - oh (media). Simple, right?
More of a sidenote here, but in Mint I have this awesome pepper that tracks FeedBurner stats. As of lately I’ve been around 50 subscribers, and that comes from about 350-450 hits on the feed a day. The hits are probably pings, and checking for things like Firefox, Bloglines, etc… Yesterday however (yesterday being the day that is displayed today) I had 50 subscribers with 615 hits.
Food for thought I guess. Hopefully the nice increase in requests will turn into a nice increase for the subscriber numbers
In other miscellanea, I’ve added some new categories. I’ll try to get these filled up soon, but the new categories are just preparing for ‘version 5′. Don’t get your hopes up though. This design isn’t even a month old ![]()

Tried W3Counter? Kind of in-between Google Analytics and Mint in terms of data, but real-time, with FeedBurner stats integration. Best of all, it’s free, so no $30 license per site.

Thanks Dan, I noticed it on your site, but with the new 1685 width on my iMac (just got it, writing now), my 8 Mint panes fits with 4 columns, and it looks so awesome.
