AleoMedia: How I’m doing it
I’ve been mentioning “AleoMedia” a lot recently, and for those of you that haven’t officially taken the hits yet, I’ve done a couple things.
- Design and portfolio section of this site: gone.
- I’ve mentioned it would ‘resurface’.
- I’ve been plugging this AleoMedia at every chance I get.
So here’s all my explanations. As a reader of this blog, you are unlikely to be a visitor to AleoMedia, although I’d love you to be
AleoMedia is me taking my freelance design… job… and making it more professional.
The tagline as of now, and likely not changing is, “Blog design solutions and improvements, For everyone”. Not very good, I know, but I’m looking to really push my SEO abilities to get up there for “blog design solutions” and other various terms.
For the design, I went through about a million different versions, the first one being really bold, and a really ‘designer’ kind of thing. I thought this was what I wanted. I had it planned out for one page, some nice scrolling effects and I’d be set. As I went along, I realized that I wanted a more professional look, kind of like a company.
So now that I have the design I’m going to be using, all I need to do is get it all sliced up and slap a CMS on it and it’s ready to go. Unfortunately there’s a lot of other stuff I have to do for clients before I can do this for myself, but I’m hoping to get this out soon.
I’ll be using CakePHP to build a small CMS for it, but while thinking about it, WordPress would be an equally good solution. It probably would work better, as that’s what I do mostly now, and what I’m looking to continue doing. WordPress is a pretty big market, and knowing what you’re doing is a good thing.
When it launches I’m going to go for just a typical brute force marketing approach. Whatever source I can use, I will. Hopefully the bigger CSS galleries like it, even though it is rather simple. If I can get 2000 people in the first month, while not very much, I’ll be happy. From there on in I’m going to have to rely on search engines for terms like blog design solutions. See what I did there?
In other news, I’m ordering my iMac today. “iMac 20-inch 2.16GHz Intel Core 2 Duo”. Hopefully it’ll be timed right so when AleoMedia launches I’ll have all my apps already going.
