Looking into the Stats
Normally at the end of each month I post a recap of that months stats. I didn’t do this for July, because I was away at the beginning of August and July showed a significant dip in traffic. But, there’s hope! In fact, I’m much happier with the dip
July’s stats:
- 1946 Unique hits, down from 3358.
- 6545 Pages, down from 8588.
- 90 readers on average, up from 64.
So, it’s a noticeable drop in traffic, but I’m not one to dwell on a dip like that, when readership shows an increase like that, I’m happy. Below is a graph from Mint, showing my FeedBurner stats, month by month.

As you can see, it has been steadily increasing since January. October and November represented an invisible WordPress blog, that never went anywhere. In December I didn’t have dynamic content. Relaunching in January, things started to happen. You can see February is higher than March, and that’s because I had a post featured on MacSurfer the same time I had a free WP theme released.
From March things have seen a nice rise. I expect August will average over 100 readers (avg 97 over 9 days).
So why the Dip?
The dip in July’s traffic is simple. I had no “bad traffic”. By “bad traffic” I mean poor converting, view-a-page-and-go traffic. Pixel2Life supplied a lot of traffic over the months prior, and WLTC contributed very much in June.
I could’ve brought it up by getting traffic like that, but I decided not to and see what happens. In the end, the biggest increase in readership was had. 2000 visits a month forĀ small blog like this isn’t bad anyways.
I’m going to continue the trend this month of August and not go after and viral or “assisted” traffic. A lot of people dwell on getting lots of traffic and think it’s hard, but a little work goes a long way, in this field, at least.

Grats on the readership. It’s hard to see a dip in viewers but its good that you realize why it is. Bad traffic just bloats your stats and doesn’t account for anything real.
