Google Reader: Meh, I’ll Take a Day Off
Do you own an RSS feed? Do you track it with FeedBurner? You’ll notice today when you check your numbers, that you’ve seen a significant drop. Google reader doesn’t feel like reporting today!
For me, GR accounts for a little under 50% of all subscriptions, depending on the day. For whatever reason, no numbers have been recorded by FeedBurner for GR today. This isn’t just my problem, give it a check and you’ll see you have it too.
So, what gives? This is going to have a huge effect on averages and stats for everyone. Not to mention, of all readers, the one made by the company that owns FeedBurner decides to take little R&R.
This begs a few questions by all feed owners:
- Is this more than a one day thing?
- Will they mend today’s stats?
- What will they say?
- What free stuff can I get to make me happy?
While the latter remains improbable, the issue stands: What’s the deal, Google?

I think they’ll mend today’s stats. In the past when things happend in the other dirction (a spike around a year ago) they ammended things within 24 hours.

Well my feed hasn’t been hit to bad (i don’t think), it says i have 4 readers (yes i know terrible) which is normal.

4 readers is more than most mate
I think it will definately be fixed asap .. i’ve never been annoyed with google for anything.

Went from 24 to 13. Pretty big drop for me. Hopefully they’ll fix it soon.

I have noticed feeds have been down allover the place, its kind of crazy I wonder if google is doing updates or what the big deal is…

Yeah, i wonded that when i first checked my stats yesterday. Luckily, it was pretty easy to sus out when you check all the other blogs.

It was fixed the next day, for the record, but the previous days stats were not amended.

My dropped by 30 readers or so. I thought people must of really hated yesterdays post!
