Free Design Reviews

Posted on February 18th in Design — 9 Comments so far. Got something to say?

With the intent of restoring some life to the somewhat deserted fields of this one time flourishing blog, I’d like to make a proposition to you, the reader. The idea is this: you send me an email with your website, a brief description of it, your name, etc… and I’ll give you a full, objective review.

In the name of full disclosure, for it to be overwhelmingly postive (which is what we all awant, isn’t it?), the design would have to be excellent. Everything will be constructive, but you have to realize I have opinions and will express them. Think of this like a “reviewMe” but specifically about your design, and without the ridiculously high fee that I’ll only ever see half of anyway.

So if you’re intrested in a little exposure, a little constructive critisism and want a list of improvements that can be made, mosey on over to the contact page and decipher my spam/idiot filter and send me a request.

Back to the original pre-topic of bringing the life and readers/participation back to this blog, I’m going to try to start posting regularly again. I’ve said that in the past of course, and more time than not I’ve faltered on following through with aforementioned intentions, but it all comes back to a few things. First, I’m busy with school. Unfortunately that has to come first nowadays, but that’s life. And then there’s obligations to clients that come ahead of obligations to readers, etc…

Oh, and by the way, I took the stupid background pattern out. I think it looks more open and cleaner this way.

    I’ve emailed you.

I like your site without the background, it looks good. Now all you need to do is write an about page. :)

Ah, the about page. It’s one of those nagging tasks. I’m not very good at writing about myself, but I’ll put that on the ever expanding to-do list!

    Hi Connor,
This seems to be a great idea. Do you also plan to do things like guest blogs? i.e where some other bloggers can send articles to be put on your blog?

Haha, I think “pro blogger” requires me to make some sort of money, doesn’t it?

The first one is up and I actually really enjoyed doing it. I’m starting to get my word prowess back. ;)

I might send you a site to look at, but I dont want you to be too harsh on it, but some ideas would be good.

The ultimate goal is for constructive criticism, so I’m not going to just openly come out with a list of 20 reasons why it sucks, but as the current one on Zachnk.com, I think it looks at key points that can be improved and why I feel that way.

    I don’t bite, usually.
